The 4th time in 6 months my dryer broke. I am a struggling single mom with 2 teens and lots of laundry! I was in trouble, had little money and needed help!! Already I spent $1000 fixing this dryer (newer front-load Samsung) in 4 service calls! Back then I called Mars- every time at least $200; usually more. THIS time, Mars told me the same guy would come" in a day or so". I told Mars I was in dire straits, had been a LOYAL customer and had already spent so much with them- same repairman- same machine- broken AGAIN. I warned I couldn't afford a huge bill and whatever it cost would be my grocery money! After 2 minutes drilling opening my dryer, he said my belt was broken- a $30 part, BUT would cost $200 to spend 10 minutes fixing it! I lost it- chocked back tears and said "I just can't! I told them I cannot pay all that! You've already made a grand off me! Is there anything you can do?" He replied, "I should charge you the $80 for just coming, but I am just going to leave!", and stormed out angrily in front of my kids- I felt like the biggest failure in the world- desperate for help..THEN I looked online and saw all these reviews for Mike. I called him in near hysterics. He was at the vet with his puppy getting her stitches out yet took my call! He told me not to worry, he would take care of me. He quoted me a price that was but FAR less than the jerk who just stomped out of my home, embarrassing me in front of my kids! An hour later he was at my house. I ran to get cash but told him my kids were there- almost 13 and 14. He told me he'd wait; that his ethics wouldn't allow him to go in without me and I respected that. It only got better from there. He didn't just fix my dryer. He fixed errors that Mars had made in the past "repairs". Within a few minutes, I felt like an Uncle was over! We talked about his business ethics and thinking about how we should treat one another. As a new Master Psychologist and one who has been through more pain than most, I was floored by his philosophies! He put such intense pride in his work, explained everything to me about my dryer, and even my washer and fridge! He took the time to vacuum out every tiny piece of lint, took every part out and cleaned it while making sure ALL was as it should be. He corrected mistakes that could have led to fire that Mars made..He was just amazing! I felt like it was a bargain above a bargain because not only did he reduce his rate to help me, being a compassionate man, he talked to me and I wasn't uncomfortable in my own home. He talked about his experience- why he does what he does. Many people do their jobs for the paycheck- Mike does his job because he's great at it, loves what he does, and CARES about people! I have never seen a professional take that much care in their approach to a customer! When he finished- taking longer than all 4-5 repair jobs Mars had done combined to go through everything with me, answer my questions, look at other things and make sure I was safe and the dryer worked the way it was supposed to, I went to pay him. I handed him the agreed upon amount, and he handed me back about 30%% of THAT $ already discounted! I was floored! I couldn't help it! The next evening he called me to make sure that the dryer was working well and that everything was okay. WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE? It was like a time warp- customer service of high caliber- LONG GONE to companies like Mars, and a thing of the past except in movies and stories from my mom- Mike runs his business this way every day!.I can honestly say with 100%% certainty that there is no one better than Mike, as a repairman and as a human being, and that Mars Appliance Repair needs to have him train their staff! That is IF they don't lose all their business to MIKE!!!! As for me, no one I know or I will EVER call another service again. Thank you SO MUCH, MIKE! You area rare and precious find.
